The Expedition Africa 2023 promises to be an exhilarating adventure race that will take place from 18th to 30th October in the Eastern Cape region of South Africa. This edition of the race will see teams competing in four disciplines - Mountain Biking, Trail Running, River Kayaking, and Navigation - over a grueling distance of 700km.

The race will start and end at Cape St. Francis Resort, which will serve as the headquarters for the event. Teams will need to be self-sufficient and unsupported throughout the course of the race, carrying all of their necessary equipment and supplies with them.

Expedition Africa 2023 will have three categories - Mixed Teams 4, Male Teams, and Female Teams. The race is limited to a certain number of teams, making it a highly competitive and sought-after event. The winning team will receive a cash prize of $50,000 USD, which will be distributed among the top teams.

The race course will be open for nine days, but the winning team is expected to finish in four days. Teams will navigate through the challenging terrain of the Eastern Cape region, which includes steep mountains, rugged trails, and winding rivers. Kayaks will be provided for the river kayaking discipline.

The race will also serve as a qualifier for the 2024 Adventure Racing World Championship, with the first-placed team receiving free entry to the championship. The mandatory equipment list will follow the ARWS standard list, and the race will follow the ARWS standard rules.
